  3. Ensure regular mentions and visibility.
  4. Build sufficient trust with your target audience.
  5. Maintain a strong reputation.

To ensure that potential clients choose your brand, always focus on the following factors:

  • Clarity
  • Accessibility
  • Security
  • Quality

If even one of these factors is overlooked, the strategy will not be effective.

How Does a Website Influence the Promotion of a Crypto Brand

A website is the heart of a crypto project, even if it also has a mobile application. Ultimately, all traffic still needs to be directed to the website.

Why is this important?

  1. The website provides comprehensive information about the project and its ideology.
  2. Users will look for legal documentation on the website to verify the project’s legitimacy.
  3. A well-designed website offers a more intuitive and user-friendly experience for first-time visitors.
  4. An effective crypto website includes multiple communication channels for personalized support and inquiries.

Conclusion: For a new client, the website is a much higher priority than the application.

Therefore, before starting promotion, carefully analyze your website. It should include:

  1. A simple design with easy-to-read fonts
  2. Intuitive functionality
  3. Up-to-date contact information
  4. Multiple communication channels: phone support, live chats with managers, chatbots, and email
  5. A complete list of legal documents confirming the project’s legitimacy
  6. User-friendly account dashboards
  7. A variety of payment options
  8. A blog with valuable, educational content
  9. A detailed FAQ section (preferably with video explanations)
  10. A review section
  11. Links to other engagement channels, such as social media and messaging apps
  12. A newsletter subscription option

Also, don’t overlook the technical aspects:

  1. Proper robots.txt configuration;
  2. XML sitemap;
  3. Website mirror (a must for crypto projects);
  4. No duplicate content;
  5. SEF URLs (clear, user-friendly page addresses);
  6. Fast loading speed (ideally between <1 to 2 seconds);
  7. Well-structured, optimized content;
  8. Use of H1-H4 headings with relevant keywords;
  9. Title and meta descriptions for informational pages;
  10. Responsive design optimization (extremely important);
  11. Fixing usability issues;
  12. Implementing breadcrumb navigation;
  13. No 404 errors;
  14. No broken links.

Once everything is in place, you can begin developing your promotion strategy. While the website will require ongoing improvements, adhering to these key points is essential.

Why Is It Important to Know Your Competitors and Analyze Their Crypto Sites

Many crypto project owners don’t see the value in knowing their competitors if they don’t plan to surpass them. In reality, the issue often lies in incorrectly identifying competing sites.

A project’s true competitors are websites with similar functionality, focus, and age as the target site. While studying market giants and replicating their strategies can be insightful, it’s important to recognize that most of them were established during the early days of the crypto industry.

Such sites may have spammy anchor lists, sudden link spikes, and low-quality backlinks, yet they still rank at the top of search results. This is because they are well-established and widely recognized. Think of them as grumpy grandfathers — perhaps a bit outdated, but still familiar and trusted. 😅

I recommend using Ahrefs to analyze competitors. Go to the Competitive Domains tab and download the list. To identify key competitors, check their domain age, niche, and DR (Domain Rating). Relatively young sites with a DR above 10 require a more detailed analysis.

For the selected sites, analyze the following:

  1. Link profile dynamics – It should show steady growth without sudden link drops.
  2. Anchor text profile – Avoid sites with an excessive number of low-quality commercial anchors.
  3. Link types – Should be diverse.
  4. Referring domains – Must have a strong DR (Domain Rating).

On the sites themselves, we analyze the content of informational pages and blogs, as well as functionality and design. We also examine traffic, its nature, and keywords. I use SimilarWeb and SimilarTech Prospecting. Additionally, I’d like to draw your attention to SimilarSites — it efficiently and freely identifies competing domains.

Why is this important?

  1. We determine how the project differs from competitors and identify areas for improvement.
  2. We identify engaging topics for articles and assess the completeness of existing content.
  3. We calculate the baseline number of links needed for the initial link-building phase, using the arithmetic average of donor domains from three competitors.
  4. We analyze the link acquisition strategies used by competitors and determine which are the most effective.

This is a crucial stage that helps define the project’s position in the market.

How to Promote Your Cryptocurrency Project

After completing all internal work on the website, you can start external promotion. Begin with these steps:

  1. We create social media pages on Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, Quora, and Reddit. We complete the profile information, add a link to the website, publish a welcome post or video, and develop a content plan for consistent execution. Once the page has around 10–20 posts and some initial followers, we can launch advertising campaigns.
  2. We register in relevant catalogs and directories, ensuring detailed brand information and a link to the website.
  3. We publish press releases — an effective way to gain backlinks and attract an international audience. Before creating them, review similar examples and aim to make yours even better.
  4. We engage in communities by creating brand profiles with links in niche groups. Actively participating in discussions helps strengthen our presence.
  5. We launch contextual advertising. I recommend highlighting the availability of a free trial version that doesn’t require a credit card, as this encourages users to visit the site and explore the product.
  6. We seek out opinion leaders and negotiate service reviews. Instead of starting with major influencers, focus on smaller creators with an engaged and authentic audience.
  7. We sponsor select industry conferences — an excellent opportunity to showcase the brand to the crypto community.
  8. We identify a brand representative and establish them as an industry expert. I recommend starting with guest posts — just make sure they are genuinely interesting and valuable to your target audience.
  9. We purchase forum backlinks. Why purchase them? I once managed forum link-building for a crypto site, initially handling it myself, hiring freelancers, and even setting up an in-house team. It was quite effective at the time but came with several drawbacks:
    1. Manually building forum backlinks is only effective in very small volumes. It’s a multi-step process that involves searching for and analyzing platforms, creating and maintaining profiles, writing comments, and regularly monitoring discussions. You also need to track previously posted comments and user responses.
    2. Working with freelancers can be particularly challenging. Establishing a stable process — search, training, task assignment, monitoring, and corrections — requires significant effort. The most difficult aspects are finding, training, and overseeing freelancers, which can be time-consuming. It’s especially frustrating when someone quits right after completing their training.
    3. Managing an in-house team feels like working with freelancers, but it’s even more challenging. The training is more in-depth, and oversight is stricter. While freelancers are paid per completed task, full-time employees receive a fixed salary, which is why I had to develop an entire bonus system. The process is extremely labor-intensive, especially when handling the entire link-building strategy, with forum backlinks being just one part of it.
      The human factor also plays a role — since we’re all empathetic to some degree, it can sometimes lead to compromises that affect efficiency.
      That’s why I fully support outsourcing this type of link-building.   • Characteristics: Average age, preferences, habits, and industry.
  • Geography: The regions or markets your customers come from.
  • Pain Points: Challenges they may face when interacting with your product.
  • Budget: The average spending capacity of your ideal client.
  • User Journey: How they navigate through your website.

These are the core elements, but your ICP can include additional factors tailored to your product and business goals.

Note: I recommend hiring independent functional testers on freelance platforms — Fiverr is worth considering.

Why is this?

This approach helps you better understand your ICP and identify which aspects of your project need improvement. It also reveals where your target audience is most active — whether on X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, or LinkedIn.

What Does It Mean to Mention Yourself Regularly

This means maintaining a constant presence in the market. Develop a comprehensive content plan and aim to publish at least three times a week. I personally prefer a long-tail distribution strategy.

  3. Sharing it on my personal pages.
  4. Sending it out via an email newsletter.

  3. The quality of your services. This is crucial. No matter how well-crafted your brand promotion strategy is, if your product lacks quality, trust will be impossible to build.

Monitor reviews of your brand and mentions on third-party platforms, respond promptly, and offer bonuses for identifying errors. This will help maintain customer loyalty even when mistakes occur.

You can start small and gradually expand your presence, but never stop. Develop a strategy and allocate a budget for at least a year — ideally, two. This will help prevent stagnation. However, keep in mind that the crypto market constantly attracts new, ambitious players who won’t wait.

Promoting crypto projects is challenging and expensive, but it can be extremely profitable.
